The founding partners of Ginkgo Private bring firsthand experience across funds management, institutional compliance, and complex private wealth advisory — a combination of perspectives that is deliberately rare, and deliberately complementary.
We are selective about who we work with because genuine partnership requires something that cannot be scaled: time, attention, and the kind of trust that is built slowly and carefully over years.
Every client at Ginkgo Private works directly with a founding partner. Not an associate. Not a rotating team. The same person who understands your full financial picture is the same person making decisions on your behalf.

Partner & Private Wealth Adviser
Kam brings nearly two decades of deep expertise across financial planning, funds management, and accounting to his role as Co-Founder of Ginkgo Private. With a career in financial services spanning since 2006, he has built a reputation as a thoughtful and technically rigorous adviser who places client outcomes at the centre of everything he does.
Before establishing Ginkgo Private, Kam co-founded CoWealth Partners in 2014. Earlier in his career, Kam worked as a financial adviser with a boutique financial planning firm where he also served as a founding member of a boutique licensee’s investment committee — a role that reflects both his analytical acumen and the trust his peers place in his judgement and as a research manager with a funds management firm, giving him a rare breadth of perspective across advice, investment research, and portfolio strategy.
Kam holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and a registered Tax (Financial) Adviser with the Tax Practitioners Board.
He further holds a Diploma of Financial Planning and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services, and is an Associate Member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA). He is also a Justice of the Peace for New South Wales.
This combination of academic rigour, professional credentials, and hands-on industry experience positions Kam to deliver holistic, sophisticated advice to individuals, families, and business owners navigating complex financial landscapes.

Partner & Private Wealth Adviser
Eric Chen is Co-Founder of Ginkgo Private, where he advises high-net-worth and sophisticated investors across wealth accumulation, preservation, and access to private market investment strategies.
Eric brings over 17 years of financial services experience, having built his foundation at BT Financial Group, the wealth management arm of Westpac Banking Corporation. He held senior roles across compliance and financial advice coaching, working directly with adviser networks to raise the standard of client advice across the business. His contributions were recognised with several prestigious awards, including the BT CEO Living the Values Award, the BT Blue Award, and the BT Advice Individual Award — among the most competitive recognitions within BT Financial Group's national business.
A Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) and Professional Member of the Financial Advice Association of Australia (FAAA), Eric holds a double Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Commerce (Accounting) from Macquarie University, an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, and a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking from Kaplan Professional. He is deeply committed to the development of the financial advice profession, having served as an assessor for the CFP Program for four years, where he helped shape the standards for the next generation of advisers.
Outside of work, Eric enjoys playing golf and is a dedicated purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, regularly competing at the state level. He also coaches children in the sport every Saturday — a reflection of his belief that success, whether in wealth management or sport, is built on consistency, mentorship, and long-term commitment.

Partner & Private Wealth Adviser
Max brings over fifteen years of financial services experience to Ginkgo Private, spanning private client advice, institutional compliance, and independent investment research. Before co-founding the firm, he built his advisory career under RI Advice — one of Australia's largest national licensees — while simultaneously running a specialist consulting practice serving more than ten financial planning firms. That combination gave him an unusually broad view of how great advice is structured, and where most firms fall short.
At Ginkgo Private, Max specialises in portfolio construction, tax-efficient investment structures, and intergenerational wealth planning. His approach reflects the firm's core philosophy — that enduring wealth is built through active conviction, disciplined compounding, and genuine diversification across asset classes and vintage years, not through passive acceptance of average outcomes. Clients describe him as someone who makes the complex feel clear, and who ensures every recommendation is genuinely understood before it is acted upon.
As a family man himself, Max understands that the conversations around wealth are rarely just about money. They are about what you want your family's life to look like, the values you want to instil in the next generation, and the legacy you want to leave behind. This understanding sits at the centre of how he approaches every client relationship — with patience, care, and a genuine appreciation for what is at stake.
Max holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Sydney, a Certified Financial Planner® designation, and an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning from Kaplan Professional. He is also a guest speaker on SBS Cantonese, where he regularly shares financial education and commentary with the broader community.
